Welcome to Our Journey Matters

Our Journey Matters offers small nurture group sessions for primary-aged children. The groups offer a calm and supportive space where children can feel safe, build confidence, and explore their feelings through play, creativity and supportive relationships.

What I offer

Our Journey Sessions (ages 5-10 years old)

A warm, nurture-based space where children can grow in confidence, explore their feelings and begin to find their way.

Small, consistent groups of up to six children, split into ages 5–7 years and 8–10 years.

Sessions take place after school, in blocks of six weeks, giving children the time and consistency to settle, build trust, and truly begin to open up. Through art, play and conversation, children are gently supported to explore and manage their emotions, build confidence in themselves and begin to connect with others.

One -to- One Support

For children who may benefit from more individual support, one-to-one sessions are also available. These can be particularly helpful for children who need more flexible or individual support outside of a group setting. Sessions take place online or in the family home, with an initial online meeting to discuss the child’s needs and agree the best approach together.

Through a calm and supportive relationship, these sessions help children explore their emotions, develop coping strategies and grow in confidence at their own pace. My approach is informed by BOUNCE training through The Child Therapy Service, supporting each child’s individual emotional wellbeing needs.

Initial Parent & Child Meeting

Before starting, an initial online session is offered for the child and their parent/carer.

This provides a gentle introduction, helping to ease any worries about starting something new and allowing the child to feel at ease before sessions begin

Parent/Carer Check-in

Ongoing communication is an important part of the support. Brief updates are shared by email, with additional meetings available where needed

About Me

I have over 25 years’ experience working with children and families in early years and primary school settings, and throughout my career I have witnessed the difference the right support and relationships can make to a child’s emotional wellbeing, confidence and experience of school.

Parents want their children to feel happy, settled and understood, while schools want children to feel able to engage, learn and build positive relationships. Time and again I have watched children grow in confidence, find their voice and begin to connect with others when they are given the right emotional support and space to feel truly heard.

My work has always focused on emotional wellbeing, attachment, confidence, and helping children to feel safe and understood, including children who may experience challenges with communication, emotional regulation or anxiety.

I hold my Scottish Nursery Nurse Board (SNNB) qualification and my Level 8 qualification in Childhood Practice, and I am currently undertaking my COSCA Counselling Skills Certificate.
My practice is informed by a wide range of continued professional development, including nurture training through The City of Edinburgh Council, trauma-informed practice, attachment, and COSCA training in Understanding and Supporting Children and Young People Experiencing Anxiety.
Additional training includes Place2Be Mental Health Champion training, Speech and Language Therapy early intervention courses including Talking Time and Playboxes, and BOUNCE training through The Child Therapy Service — deepening my understanding of children’s emotional development, connection, co-regulation and the needs that can sit beneath behaviour.

I currently hold an enhanced PVG, and all child protection and safeguarding training is kept up to date as part of my ongoing professional practice.

I feel privileged to support children and families in this way and remain committed to providing a calm, safe and understanding environment where every child feels valued, supported and genuinely understood.-
